01 · The brief

A retired couple wanted to leave a large Victorian house for something calm, warm and easy to live in for the next thirty years.

02 · Our response

One long roof shelters every room. A local stone wall anchors the north side, and the south side is almost entirely glass that slides away in summer.

03 · The outcome

The house uses a fraction of the energy of the old one. The owners say they now spend more time outside than in.
